The format of the class is spot on with the time spent on the different aspects of each session being perfect. I like the way it does not focus on my diagnosis and specific ‘journey’ and helps me feel ‘normal’.

Birdsong yoga has helped get me back on my feet, quite literally. 6 months ago a secondary cancer in my spine meant I was in incredible pain and unable to walk. A combination of treatment and Yoga, adapted to my needs has not only enabled me to walk and regain my fitness and mobility, and with confidence.

The online aspect of the class works very well because Yvonne makes sure she shows us the yoga poses from different angles, making it easy to follow along. A lot of the time we are given 2 or 3 different variations for a yoga movement so it can suit a range of abilities; for example those with lymphedema may not be able to lift up one of their arms, and those with bone Mets in their spine may not be able to bend or twist easily. Often a chair is used so that yoga can be done from a seated position, or if we are standing, we can hold on to the chair for balance if needed. Every session is well planned and these adaptions mean we can all join in and no-one misses out.

 Yvonne has thought of everything and I can thoroughly recommend her classes!

Yvonne, I just love your classes and the way you engage with us all both online, in person and over WhatsApp. It's obvious that this is not just a job for you, but something that you love and are passionate about, and that shines through. Your care and attention of us all is just so nice and comforting too. I feel like you are "on our side" and that you have our best interests at heart. ​Can't praise the classes enough. They have the right balance of exercise, advice and relaxation. So glad to have found this class. Felt that most exercise was too difficult and I felt depressed about it but this has been a real mood lifter for me

I’ve been telling everyone who will listen how much I love Friday mornings now! The course is exactly what I’ve been needing, the theming of the sessions has been so good, I think about what it means to me afterwards. It’s such a friendly environment, amazing how you create that online.

Classes are a complete haven for me – a safe supportive and caring space to focus on physical and mental wellbeing.  The sessions help so much with side effects from treatment and my diagnosis, especially joint pain, as well as anxiety and insomnia.  Yvonne is so thoughtful and kind in the practice she shares with us – an incredible teacher. Birdsong Yoga is the highlight of my week.
